Run for Life 5k 2019

Zeta Tau Alpha’s chapter at the University of Virginia has hosted our annual Run for Life 5K in Charlottesville, Virginia every year for the past 25 years. Our race seeks to raise awareness for breast cancer while raising funds for the UVA Breast Care Center and the ZTA Foundation. In years past, we have attracted approximately 1000 participants and raised nearly $30,000 for breast cancer each year. This race means so much to our chapter members, UVA, and the Charlottesville community.

We were not be able to host our 27th annual 5K in loving honor of Paxson MacDonald this year in Charlottesville, due to COVID-19. Lauryn Nilson, our run director, despite the unfortunate circumstances, hosted a Run for Life 5K 2021: Virtual Edition from April 23rd-25th, 2021, to continue raising awareness and inspiring hope for a cure. Sisters and supporters used this event to post online about walking/running the 5K, remotely and socially distanced, to honor our cause.

Breast cancer affects 1 in 8 women in the United States.

Gamma Nu also holds a THINK PINK week in the fall including the following events: PINK OUT football game, Cookout for a Cure, Dine-Out-for-Pink-Out, Kendra Scott and Arbonne trunk show, and Chick-fil-a sale.

During the 2015 College Game Day coverage for the UVA vs. Duke basketball game, sister Clair Jones won the Off Court Assist Challenge and with it a check for $5,000 towards ZTA and it's Breast Cancer research.
